A la hora de salir a correr es fundamental hacer antes unos ejercicios de calentamiento. Normalmente los corredores, cuando tenemos un tiempo limitado para entrenar, preferimos aprovechar hasta el último minuto corriendo, olvidándonos del "antes" y el "después" El calentamiento literalmente calienta el cuerpo para la actividad que vamos a realizar. No importa la intensidad de la actividad que vayas a realizar, asegúrate de que el calentamiento sea siempre parte de tu rutina.

El calentamiento antes del ejercicio ofrece muchos beneficios:

  • El calentamiento suelta los músculos para que uno no se siente rígido y tenso.
  • Aumenta el ritmo cardíaco, preparando al cuerpo para el ejercicio físico.
  • Acelera los impulsos nerviosos mejorando los reflejos y envía sangre oxigenada a los músculos.
El calentamiento debe durar de 5 a 20 minutos. Se puede combinar un trote suave, masajes y estiramientos suaves para obtener el calentamiento perfecto. El calentamiento debe ser lo suficientemente fuerte como para elevar el ritmo cardíaco y preparar los músculos que se van a usar durante la actividad.

El estiramiento también debe ser parte de la rutina de calentamiento. Cuando estires un músculo llega hasta donde sientas una molestia leve. Si duele, es porque estás estirando demasiado una zona en particular, por lo que deberías reducir la tensión. Mantén cada estiramiento aproximadamente de 10 a 30 segundos y no rebotes. Recuerda estirar grupos opuestos de músculos uno después de otro.
